Consultant Renal Transplant & Dialysis Access Surgeon
10 PAs per week
Applications are invited for a substantive consultant post within the renal transplant surgery department at the Royal Free. We perform 120-140 renal transplants per year, as well as providing dialysis access for approximately 800 patients. The existing four substantive consultants have specialist interests in complex vascular access and reconstructive vascular surgery, minimally-invasive/robotic surgery, endocrine surgery, organ procurement, transplant immunology, and medical education.
We are looking for dynamic individuals that will not only support the anticipated expansion of our transplant and dialysis programmes, but will also deliver service improvements and enhance the range and quality of specialist care already provided.
The successful applicant for post one will have their main focus of elective activity on our dialysis access programme, in order to further improve our excellent line-free rate amongst maintenance dialysis patients, and to provide service improvements in the management of elective and emergency surgery. It would be desirable for the successful applicant to have had training in minimally invasive donor nephrectomy and/or experience in the acute post-transplant outpatient clinic.
Candidates must have full GMC registration and must be on the Specialist Register, or be within six months of their CCT from the date of the interview. Candidates are asked to please specify in the supportive statement which post they are applying for.
