PHE’s Centre for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards (CRCE), part of the Health Protection and Medical Directorate is the focal point for independent advice on health risks from exposure to radiation, environmental levels of chemicals and environmental change.
CRCE’s Environmental Hazards and Emergencies Department is seeking to appoint two Consultants in Health Protection, a Head of the Extreme Events and Health Protection (EEHP) Group and a Consultant in EEHP.
You will be responsible for leading the team in developing the evidence base for the public health impacts of extreme events, working closely with partners, policy makers and academics, in the UK and internationally; coordinating the relevant extreme weather event response plans for England and acting as a focal point within PHE for the National Adaptation Programme –making the country resilient to climate change. You will be supporting the Environmental Public Health Strategy function, linking directly with the Director of Environmental Public Health.
You will be appointed to the Consultant salary scale appropriate to your years of seniority or if from a background other than medicine to NHS Agenda for Change Band 8D. This post is suitable for candidates who wish to work flexibly or job share.
