LOCUM CONSULTANT IN DIABETES AND ENDOCRINOLOGY
FULL TIME 10 PA’s
A Locum Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology for 12 months is required to join the existing team of Consultants at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, as soon as possible to cover maternity leave.
The role will comprise of 12 months fixed term alongside 3 existing consultant colleagues, providing Diabetes and Endocrine clinics (4.5 per week) during Cold (clinic) weeks and daily morning ward rounds during Hot (ward) weeks along with covering inpatients referrals and triaging.
We provide an extensive range of clinics for Endocrine – General Endocrine, Thyroid, Joint Pituitary, and Diabetes – Young Adult, Weight Management, Community Specialist Diabetes, Antenatal & Maternity as well as well-established Inpatient and Foot services. Individual interests and aspirations will be taken in to consideration. The post holder is expected to do on calls (1:12 weekends) and scheduled weekday evening post take rounds.
The appointment will be made in accordance with the new consultant contract terms and conditions. Preferences for on calls and or part time or job share can be negotiated if necessary.
There are plans to expand department in the coming year, and the possibility that substantive consultant posts may be available in the future.
The Great Western Hospital opened in 2002 and has been a Foundation Trust since December 2008. Following a merger with Wiltshire Community Health Services (WCHS) in June 2011 the Trust has provided not only acute hospital services but also a range of community health services in Wiltshire. Since 1 July 2016, Wiltshire Health and Care have provided community healthcare services for adults in Wiltshire, after being selected by Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) as their chosen provider for at least the next five years.
