North Bristol NHS Trust is a progressive and ambitious teaching and research organisation, and a specialist regional centre for major trauma, neurosciences, plastics and burns, orthopaedics and renal services. With a turnover of £550m and 8,000 staff, our clinical teams have built a strong reputation for exceptional healthcare, personally delivered.

Our acute services moved into the brand new, £430 million state of the art Brunel Building in May 2014 enabling us to work together to create the environment for exceptional healthcare. This 800 bed hospital at the Southmead site offers some patients single rooms with en-suite facilities, greatly improving privacy and dignity and helping to control the spread of infections but most importantly of all, enabling each patient to be treated as a person. At the heart of what we do is a caring and compassionate workforce.

The Specialty of Diabetes and Endocrinology within the Medicine Division is looking for an exceptional candidate to replace one of our Consultant team following retirement, to support the specialty in managing a range of routine and specialist outpatient clinics for Endocrinology and Diabetes, a general medical inpatient bed base, providing specialist inpatient opinion and taking part in the on call take rota for acute medicine. The diabetes services are fully integrated and function as a single team, with all disciplines involved and undertake active research.

The specialty manages a wide range of endocrinology patients including thyroid disease, hyperparathyroidism and disorders of calcium metabolism, pituitary disease and adrenal disorders.  The post holder will be the lead for the adrenal work within the specialty, linking closely with our colleagues in Urology.

Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register for Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus, have CCT in Endocrinology and Diabetes and General (Internal) Medicine or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date.  Full Registration with the GMC is essential.

Closing date: 3 February 2019.

Interview date: 5 March 2019.
