Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Weston Area Health Trust are offering an exciting opportunity to appoint a full time Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at Weston Area
Health Trust and provide specialist mental health services to children and young people in North Somerset.
The newly amalgamated BNSSG CCG brings the flexibility to work across the Sustainability Transformation Plan, sharing best practice and gaining peer support with colleagues in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
The post holder`s primary responsibility initially will be to set up a newly commissioned Crisis/ Outreach Team for North Somerset, working closely with colleagues in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
CAMHS/LD is part of a combined Directorate incorporating Acute and Community Paediatrics, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Community Paediatric Therapies, Medicine, Emergency Medicine and
Patient Flow. Specialist Community Children’s Services which includes CAMHS/LD are based at Drove Road in Weston where there is a purpose-built Child Development Centre with consulting rooms, therapy rooms and a
multi-sensory room as well as consulting rooms in the North of North Somerset at The Barn, Clevedon.
Community Paediatrics, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Child Development Practitioners are co-located with CAMHS/LD at Drove Road. There is a strong emphasis on
multiagency and multidisciplinary team working, with joint meetings to discuss children with complex needs. A single point of entry system exists for referrals to children’s services.
Applicants will be expected to hold a full medical degree and membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
They must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold the Certificate of Specialist Training or be within 6 months of being included on the register at the time of interview. Applicants will also be required to meet the essential criteria as described in the person specification.
North Somerset offers excellent access to Bristol and the South West with the choice of rural or urban living.
