Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust provides integrated Community, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and social care employing 7000 staff over 200 locations.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our established Adult Mental Health Acute Care Team in North Hampshire. The post holder will be based at Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke and will become part of a team of consultants working on the inpatient unit for adults of working age.
The successful candidate will be invited to discuss their job description within this pathway according to their strengths and preference.
The Trust has adopted a strong Quality Improvement agenda and there is the opportunity for training in this methodology. In addition protected “off-site” time for CPD could be incorporated as part of the job planning process.
We have an active Research & Development function and we are always looking for more involvement in our research projects; we offer an excellent new consultant induction programme to support and develop you as a new Consultant within SHFT; even if this isn’t your first consultant post this helps orientate you to the organisation. We’ve established this to create a network through your first year with the Trust combining a tailored development programme and coaching with organisational understanding.
Locally we have a relatively small but cohesive and supportive consultant group, meeting weekly with our consultant colleagues in Learning Disability and Older Persons Mental Health. Here, alongside business and service development agendas there is a strong peer support and clinical focus. There is also a monthly Ballint Group for Senior Medical staff.
We think we have a lot to offer and look forward to talking to you about the opportunities available. We strongly encourage an informal visit to the unit prior to the assessment process .
