We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Forensic Pathology within the School of Medicine, to deliver forensic autopsy services to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), as well as contributing to a range of teaching activities at undergraduate & postgraduate level in the field of forensic medicine and pathology. The Centre currently performs approximately 500 post mortem examinations per year. In addition, you will act as supervisor & mentor to specialty trainees whilst also having opportunities to be engaged in research with colleagues across the University. 

Your priorities will include:

  • Post-mortem examinations, providing evidence in Courts of Law and supporting the COPFS in investigating deaths in Scotland
  • Teaching undergraduate/postgraduate students
  • Participation in an on-call rota to provide scene of death and autopsy services

Who we’re looking for:

  • Full and specialist registration with the GMC in Histopathology or Forensic Pathology
  • Fellowship (or within six months of eligibility to obtain) of the Royal College of Pathologists (or equivalent) in Histopathology or Forensic Pathology
  • Experience of undergraduate/postgraduate teaching
