Fixed Term Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia
NHS Grampian is looking to recruit 3 Fixed Term Specialty Doctors in Anaesthesia. The posts are available for one year in the first instance with the potential for further extension by mutual agreement and subject to funding being available. The posts provide an opportunity for candidates who wish to work on a full or part time basis and will be primarily based at Aberdeen Royal infirmary and Woodend Hospital with occasional commitments at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital and Royal Aberdeen Children Hospital.
Clinical duties will consist of Anaesthetic theatre sessions covering a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Plastics, Gynaecology and Breast Surgery, Orthopaedics and Trauma and Urology. Special interests in Paediatric, Neuro, Cardiac and Obstetric Anaesthesia can also be accommodated. There is no out of hours’ on call commitment; however, this is likely to be required once established in post.
Located in the North East of Scotland, Aberdeen is an affluent, friendly and vibrant city, combining all the amenities of a large city with quick, easy access to its beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline. The successful candidate will be joining a large Anaesthetic department which covers a comprehensive range of clinical services and as a teaching hospital department there is strong involvement in a wide range of educational activities. There are also many opportunities to develop research interests in collaboration with the local universities. The successful candidate will have 4 hours per week for supporting professional activities including professional development, teaching and training, and quality improvement.
It is essential that candidates have a minimum of 4 years’ (full time or equivalent) Postgraduate training in Anaesthesia and full GMC registration with a license to practice for the duration of the appointment. Possession of the FRCA, European Diploma, or equivalent is desirable.
