Consultant - Clinical Chemistry
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed clinician to join our consultant team,
The new consultant will share in the provision of outpatient clinics, including remote access clinics, in lipid disorders and metabolic bone disease. The post holder will also be expected to lead the lipid disorders service including setting up genetic cascade testing for familial hypercholesterolaemia. Any other sub-specialist interest which dovetails with the requirements of the department and the hospital will be encouraged and supported. The candidate will also be supported to develop a research interest, with excellent opportunities to collaborate within the trust and University.
There will be three outpatient clinics per week. The successful applicant will join the other consultants to provide advice on the management of biochemical abnormalities in inpatients within RLBUHT and AUH and also provide advice and guidance to General Practitioners on a one in four rota.
A major component of this post is to provide leadership for the National Alkaptonuria Centre (NAC). The successful candidate will work alongside the current clinical lead of the NAC with a view to taking over the leadership of that service in two years’ time. This will require a long term commitment to ensuring that the success of the NAC is continued and enhanced.
The successful applicant must be on, or within 6 months entry to the specialist register or equivalent experience and be fully registered with the GMC.
