Imperial College is recruiting to build on its major strengths in Infectious Diseases with a further strategic investment. Applications are invited for the academic posts of Clinical Senior Lecturer, Clinical Reader or Clinical Professor of Infectious Diseases within Imperial College’s Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine.  These academic appointments will extend and complement our existing research, and provide opportunities to collaborate with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

We wish to appoint two or more clinical academics who are seeking to contribute between 5 and 8 PAs to academic research activity, and 2 to 5 PAs as a consultant physician providing care for patients of specialist infection services. A formal job plan defining PA allocations will be agreed between the post holder, the Head of Department and Directorate Clinical Director during the recruitment process and will be reviewed annually thereafter.

Central to the recruitment of one of these posts is to fill a vacancy in the Academic Clinical Infectious Diseases team at the Hammersmith Hospital campus, which offers a minimum of 3 months/year (non-consecutive) clinical infectious disease service.  More information is given in Section 3.2 of the job description and applicants are asked to highlight their interest in this specific post in their personal statement.

Imperial College provides an outstanding environment for basic, clinical and translational research, and supports academics through tailored training programmes, with mentoring and comprehensive administrative support. This is a fantastic opportunity for applicants with the ability to develop their original ideas, lead a research group and work to be among the best in the field.

To excel in these roles you will be developing or, depending on the level, you will have a national and/or an international reputation and a record of excellent research in your field.  Informal inquiries can be directed to Professor Charles Bangham via email: c.bangham@imperial.ac.uk
