YDH has 345 beds and provides acute care, including maternity services, for a growing population of 180,000, mostly in South Somerset, North and West Dorset and parts of Mendip. The Trust has a private patients’ facility, the Kingston Wing, which offers a personal service in state-of-the-art clinical facilities

The Trust operates a busy but highly efficient Emergency Department alongside other acute services covering most of the major specialties. We have close links with colleagues over at the Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and also the Bristol Royal Infirmary which provides cardio-thoracic surgery and tertiary cardiology facilities.

The Trust has clear objectives in terms of delivering excellent, safe and effective patient care and aims for services that are positively rated by patients, families and stakeholders.
