St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and
Isle of Man. We are a Major Trauma Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic consultant with special interest in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthetics, Acute or Emergency Medicine or any other compatible base specialty.
The critical care unit is amongst the longest established critical care units in the UK. The clinical team is led by a multidisciplinary consultant body comprising of consultants in critical care and other specialties (four consultants in critical care/anaesthesia, a consultant in critical care / emergency medicine and a consultant in critical care and physician).
The critical care team is extremely active in original and portfolio research, education, teaching and training. There is an active patient follow up programme.
The critical care is hosted within a state-of-the-art, future proof, modern facility, in close proximity to theatre and the regional burns unit.
The new appointee will join a team of 8 Critical Care Consultants in total.
The Critical Care Consultants have dedicated desk and office space, excellent IT facilities and secretarial support. We have two Higher ICM trainees and Clinical Fellows. The junior doctor’s rota is covered by twelve
trainees, with a minimum of two trainees covering the unit at any time.
Applicants should have full GMC registration and License to Practice, and be on the Specialist Register or within six months of receiving CCT at the time of interview.
An Enhanced DBS (Adults and Children) check is required for this post.
