We are a Major Trauma Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

This is a new post to join the department of medicine for older people (DMOP) that has a total of 16 consultant colleagues (including this post) working alongside specialist practitioners from nursing and therapy backgrounds as well as a large group of allied health professionals.
You will be part of a happy and friendly team that is forward looking and receives lots of support from the trusts executive board. The frailty service currently comprises of a 16 bedded acute frailty unit, ED interface 5 days per week and community frailty service for St Helens providing comprehensive geriatric assessment and hospital avoidance to patients both in their own home and residential care. The successful applicant will work with the existing specialist team to provide these services and participate in future developments and expansion in both the acute and community settings.
The DMOP has regularly been recognised by the trust for its exemplary contribution to excellent patient care, most recently receiving awards for Frailty Services, Orthogeriatrics, Stroke and intermediate care.

The department has high standards of education and is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The trust supports development and training in the roles of educational and clinical supervisor.
The DMOP provides 7 day service with 1 in 8 weekend rota for consultants to provide ward rounds into the Frailty unit on 1A and 2 existing core DMOP ward/Board rounds. The stroke consultants run a separate 1 in 8 rota for stroke services. The successful appointee will not be required to provide services to the stroke team.
You must have full GMC Registration and be on the CCT register at the point of application or must be in receipt of their CCT within 6 months of date of interview.
