Two Consultant Posts in Medicine for the Elderly
The Department of Elderly Medicine and Stroke Services is expanding.
We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic, forward-thinking colleagues to join a team that has driven several important quality developments in the care of older adults including a dual pathology partnership service with old age psychiatry, an A-rated stroke service that is in the top tier of hyper-acute stroke services nationally and an orthogeriatric service that is part of a team that won a National HSJ patient safety award.
One of these posts is new and will complement our existing consultant team of thirteen who currently provide specialist services in orthogeriatrics, movement disorder, intermediate care, dementia, frailty and continence.
The successful post holder has a unique opportunity to help develop our new frailty model both within the Trust and as an integrated service with our community partners. The successful post-holder will be encouraged to develop a subspecialty interest that aligns with the department. We are seeking to appoint the right individual and wish to encourage enquiries from all potential candidates. These posts will help to enable the care we provide to evolve into a frailty rather than age-based model.
We would strongly encourage an interest in clinical leadership and if any applicant has leadership experience there are opportunities to develop this within the service The post holder will be expected to make an equal contribution to the medicine on-call rota weekdays and weekends.
