Are you interested in playing a leading role in the continuing development of the public health profession and the quality of public health delivery in England? Do you have what it takes to become Public Health England’s Medical Director and Director for Health Protection?

The Medical Director and Director for Health Protection will be directly accountable to the Chief Executive Officer of Public Health England for the quality of health protection services provided by Public Health England: establishing and maintaining internationally benchmarked best practice; being a credible leader for health protection; and providing professional advice to Government, the NHS and internationally.

The Director will also act as Medical Director and Responsible Officer for Public Health England, playing the key role in maintaining professional standards and leading the medical profession within the organisation.

You will be an experienced Consultant in Public Health, with significant Board-level experience in the public, voluntary and community, or private sector. With expert knowledge and experience of leading national and international approaches to health protection, you will be able to provide evidence of securing improved outcomes. You will have worked on large scale organisational change, transition and transformation and have significant experience of strategic leadership of significant public health incidents. Your extensive experience of managing highly sensitive and complex problems in large organisations, will include responding to external challenge. An exceptional strategic thinker, you will be adept at dealing with complex and rapidly changing political environments and effectively managing a myriad of competing priorities.
