Applications are invited from qualified Consultant Community Paediatricians and/or those that are within 3 months of completion of specialist training who have, or would like to develop, a special interest within the field of audiology and neurodevelopmental paediatrics.

This is an exciting, newly developed post that is jointly funded across Oldham and HMR and is an excellent opportunity for the applicant to increase their skills and knowledge. The successful applicant will be supported by an expanding team of the Community Paediatricians in Oldham and Specialist Audiologists. Peer support will also be available from experienced Medical Consultants in Audiology from the North West.

This post is predominantly working within the boroughs of Oldham and HMR with occasional support to the borough of Bury. Clinics are performed in modern community lift buildings that house a number of other community children’s services.

The Community Consultant Paediatrician post (3PA) will predominantly assess and treat children with neuro disability as part of the Community Paediatric Team in Oldham. This may include diagnosis of autism, genetic conditions, cerebral palsy, palliative care epilepsy etc., as well as other statutory components. Opportunities exist to lead and develop in specific areas depending on experience.

With Audiology as a specialist interest the CPS will provide a range of services within the audiology department which include paediatric/ENT consultancy for children diagnosed with permanent childhood hearing impairment and prolonged middle ear effusion. This role will also incorporate Team Leader responsibilities to the Newborn Hearing Screening programme (NHSP), providing a clinical governance overview and direct clinical support to the Newborn hearing screening team leader.

It is accepted that the appointee to this post will not necessarily have the qualifications or experience in audiology therefore a full training package will be developed for the successful applicant.

Applicants should meet the educational requirements stated within the person specifications.
