Helicopter Emergency Medicine Service (HEMS)
We have exciting opportunities for Emergency Physicians looking to work in pre-hospital emergency medical care and in a busy Major Trauma Centre. These roles will combine sessions on the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance with sessions in the Emergency Department (ED) at Nottingham University Hospitals’ NHS Trust. The ED has an attendance of 195,000 new patients each year, including 44,000 children, seen in a separate co-located Paediatric Emergency Department. You will join a friendly and dedicated team of 23 Consultants and a full complement of doctors in training, with 24 hour consultant and middle grade cover. Our Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Service is recognised as one of the best in the country. The department has a strong education and research ethos, and has a large academic and clinical skills area adjacent to it. The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, based at RAF Waddington, is about to expand and launch a 24 hour service.. It is called out approximately 1,000 times a year. The service recently acquired a state of the art helicopter, the AugustaWestland 169, to support the excellent pre-hospital care delivered to patients.
