Salary: PS44 $161,434 (US$=Equivalent)
The Senior Medical Officer works under the direction of the Director of Health, in accordance with relevant legislation, to assure the effective and efficient provision of community-based public health services, personal health services (children and adults), clinical laboratory services, community rehabilitation services, and nutrition services. The post holder is accountable, in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer, for the overall management and administration of the Community Health section of the Department of Health, including resource management, strategic planning, service delivery and program management. The post operates at a senior management level to administer and manage community health programmes to ensure effective and efficient delivery of a wide range of preventive health care, health promotion and health risk prevention and reduction services in accordance with the Public Health Act, other relevant legislation, and policies and procedures.
The post holder must have a Medical degree (M.D.; M.B.,B.S.; M.B.,CH.B. or D.O.), a Master's degree or equivalent in Public Health (M.P.H.) or a relevant field of study (e.g. Masters in Public Health Administration (M.P.H.A.), etc.), be registered or eligible for registration with the Bermuda Medical Council, and must have at least ten years relevant experience in community medicine and/or preventive medicine setting, with experience in managing public health programmes within a multi-disciplinary team.
