Sutton & Merton Complex Needs Service
We are seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist in Medical Psychotherapy for this part-time (5PA) post with the Sutton and Merton Complex Needs Service based at Springfield Hospital in Tooting. The service provides DBT and MBT for patients with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder in the 2 boroughs, as well as time limited psychodynamic psychotherapy delivered by trainees. The post-holder will work alongside an established 6 PA Consultant and will be jointly responsible for running the MBT programme (including taking on the running of an MBT group, having a small caseload of MBT individual psychotherapy cases, and providing MBT supervision to other staff), as well as providing medication reviews and CPA across the service. The post-holder will also undertake assessment of patients for psychodynamic psychotherapy and provide psychotherapy training and supervision for core and higher psychiatry trainees. Within this training role, which will be expected to take up a significant amount of SPA time, there will also be opportunity, depending on the individual’s interests, to take on core or higher trainee Balint groups, supervision of higher trainees for assessments, brief, long and intensive psychodynamic psychotherapy cases or group analytic psychotherapy.
