CONSULTANT OTOLARYNGOLOGIST
s.i Paediatric Otolaryngology

39 hours - Temple Street Children's University Hospital, Ireland

Temple Street Children’s University Hospital has a well developed Otolaryngology service and is the busiest Paediatric Otolaryngology Department in the country with a full range of Tertiary and Secondary Otolaryngology services for Paediatrics and Neonates. It is the National Airway Centre and provides support to other tertiary specialties such as Neurosurgery, Cochlear Implant Programme (under six years) and the Cleft and Craniofacial Centre. The Otolaryngology service at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital is currently being delivered by five consultants equating to 2.5 WTEs.

The Otolaryngology Department works closely with Neonatology, Paediatrics, Neurosurgery (National Paediatric Unit), ICU, Craniofacial and Metabolic (National Metabolic Unit). There is exposure to a wide range of conditions in a complex Paediatric caseload. There are several Clinical Nurse Specialists on the team.

This post is supported by the Model of Care for Paediatrics under the Paediatric Clinical Programme which advocates the strengthening of paediatric Otolaryngology services.

This post aims to improve patient access and assist in achieving national SDU targets.

Professional qualifications required:

  • Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of otolaryngology and one year certified postgraduate training in paediatric otolaryngology
