Consultant Colorectal Surgeon
With a specialist interest in Peritoneal and Complex Colorectal Oncology
This replacement post is designed to support specialised colorectal, anal, peritoneal and complex pelvic surgery at The Christie Hospital NHS FT. The post will complement the 6 existing colorectal surgeons in treating advanced pelvic tumours and support the NHS England Highly Specialist Service for appendiceal neoplasia and Colorectal Peritoneal Metastases (CRPM).
There is an on call commitment for emergency surgery to provide surgical cover for inpatients undergoing complex multidisciplinary oncological treatments. Possession of the FRCS and a CCT, CESR, European Community Rights or an equivalent recognised accreditation in General Surgery with a specialty interest in colorectal surgery is essential. Research experience, a postgraduate qualification, and JAG accreditation in endoscopy would be beneficial. Candidates will have undergone recognised laparoscopic colorectal training and have experience in pelvic and colorectal surgical oncology. Experience in the assessment and treatment of peritoneal disease is desirable however it is expected that the successful candidate would benefit from further training and consultant support once in post.
The appointee will be offered a 10PA post under the New Consultant Contract in association with agreed job planning of programmed activities. Candidates who are unable for personal reasons to work full time are eligible to apply and, if successful, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with Consultant colleagues.
