A number of exciting opportunities have arisen within our CAMHS service following the retirement of 3 long standing consultants, new posts through investment and movement within the existing service.

Willow House 10 PA - CAMHS Newbury 6 PA - CAMHS Central Team 6 PA

CAMHS Rapid Response 6 PA - CAMHS BEDS 6PA

CQC have rated our community and inpatient CAMHS services as GOOD.

We would encourage interested applicants to contact Dr Tamsin Marshall, Medical Lead for CAMHS (07990946840) for informal discussions so we can discuss the posts as we are very open to job shares, less than full time working - Talk to us and see what we can do for you.

 About the service

Berkshire Healthcare has embarked on innovative and transformative projects including our quality improvement work which is trust wide and in its second year of development. We are constantly seeking innovation that improves the quality of the care we give and recently re-emphasised the importance of Consultant leadership in this pursuit. We are a Global Digital Exemplar site and have already begun ambitious plans to improve our ways of working using new technology across the trust. Our CAMHS services are also embarking on a New Models of Care project with Oxfordshire NHS trust as the lead provider, improving access to Tier 4 services across the geographical patch.

Berkshire Healthcare CAMHS is based on a pathway model with specialist teams including the Anxiety and Depression pathway, neurodevelopmental services, EIP, CAMHS Eating disorders, Rapid Response services and our 9 bedded inpatient unit.

We are at the early stages of an ambitious project which will relocate our current inpatient service to a site with our adult mental health unit in Reading, which will increase capacity and improve access to admission for Eating Disorder patients. The successful applicants to the in-patient and eating disorders posts will play an important role in the leadership of this project.

BHFT places great value in its relationship with Reading University. The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at Reading University has established a strong and lasting relationship with the Trust. The CAMHS services benefit in particular from strong working relationships with the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences which has an international reputation for research into child development and psychopathology. We also have close links with the Centre for Autism and the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics and there are opportunities for interested candidates to develop research in a range of areas.

There is a friendly supportive CAMHS Consultant group who share peer supervision including a monthly case discussion group, two PDP groups and in house CPD programme. There is a wider supportive network of psychiatrists across the trust and CPD opportunities to meet psychiatrists from other specialities. Consultants share the out of hours on call rota of approx. 1:12 frequency.
