Consultant Anaesthetist x3
Applications are invited for three Consultant Anaesthetist posts based at Northwick Park/St Mark’s/Central Middlesex Hospitals and Ealing, part of the London North West Hospital Trust. The merger of Northwick Park/St Mark’s and Central Middlesex Hospitals with Ealing Hospital formed the Trust in 2014. London North West Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest integrated NHS Trusts in the country employing more than 8,000 staff with a budget of more than £640 million a year. We are the first Trust of its kind to provide complete hospital-based and community healthcare services to a combined population of 850,000 in the boroughs of Brent, Harrow and Ealing.
These are primarily expansion posts, which will enhance the current service delivery. Our priority is to appoint the best possible consultant anaesthetists to join our friendly, collegiate and hard-working department.
The obstetric unit at Northwick Park Hospital has approximately 5500 births per year and the post holders will be responsible for the provision of both elective and emergency care for obstetric patients.
The post holders will be joining a team of 52 consultant anesthetists/intensivists providing anaesthetic services for theatres and other areas of the hospital in addition to the obstetric unit. The appointees to these vacancies will need to be willing / able to contribute to a future shared vision with colleagues across the other hospitals in London North West Healthcare.
Northwick Park is a very busy acute hospital. It is a regional centre for head and neck surgery, vascular and major gastrointestinal surgery. Out of hours cover is provided on a 1:10 on call rota, which includes both first, and second on call responsibilities and provides cover for the general CEPOD theatre as well as obstetric services and the surgical HDU. The successful appointees will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
