Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with a special interest in Upper Limb Surgery and Orthopaedic General Trauma

This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to specialise in Upper Limb Surgery and Orthopaedic General Trauma

This post will complement the well-established upper limb team alongside participation in the orthopaedic trauma service at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
As a leading Orthopaedic provider and established Foundation Trust, we cultivate an environment where our staff become pioneers in their field.  We have a reputation for innovation and provide a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal surgical, medical and rehabilitation services locally, nationally and internationally. We are at the cutting edge of medical excellence, with a growing research programme.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with FRCS (or equivalent) who are on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery or who will be within six months of obtaining their CCT at the time of interview. In addition applicants should demonstrate within their application that they are fully trained in upper limb surgery through a structured post CCT Fellowship or advanced subspecialty training in hand surgery along with specialist trauma training.

Shropshire is a perfect blend of old and new. With the rolling countryside and fantastic links to Birmingham and the North West, you can live in a beautiful place that’s well connected. You’ll never be short of something to do – quaint towns are scattered across the county with beautiful scenery and award winning food, hiking and walking opportunities combined with a rich history of ancient civilisations from the Iron Age hillfort in Oswestry to the ruins of a roman city in Wroxeter.

We encourage Surgeons interested in this post to make informal contact with our Clinical Director, Mr Richard Potter, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon on (01691) 404099.
