St Mark’s Hospital and academic institute is a centre of excellence for colorectal and gastroenterology specialist clinical care, research and education within London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. The Trust is one of the largest integrated care trusts in the country bringing together hospital and community services across Brent, Ealing and Harrow.
We are inviting applications for a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon post to meet our increasing demands for Colorectal Cancer out-patient clinics, surgery and in-patient care. The post offers opportunities to further develop special interest in Complex Colorectal Cancer, as well as contribute to the academic and educational activities within St Mark’s and will integrate with the current specialities offered by the current Colorectal Surgery team, which include Polyposis, Intestinal Failure, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition and hepatobiliary disorders.
The specific role of the appointee will be to support the provision of general Colorectal Surgery along with Complex Colorectal Cancer treatments for inpatient and outpatients including cover for the St Mark’s and Trust Emergency Surgical rota. The successful candidate would be expected to have a strong academic and educational interest and track-record in these areas.
He/she will be expected attend Lower GI cancer MDTs and other MDTs depending on the development of the role and to manage patients with general colorectal surgical problems admitted to the Surgical wards.
The posts are open to applicants with CCT in Coloproctology and experience of both locally advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer surgery/surgery for peritoneal metastases
