Consultant Psychiatrist Post in Luton
East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) is making a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.
ELFT has been named one of the HSJ Top 10 best places to work in healthcare, HSJ Provider Trust of the Year and graded as Outstanding by our regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2018. We believe that staff who feel valued by the Trust and are truly engaged in the organisation deliver better outcomes for our patients. This Trust is clinician-led, and
provides the highest possible level of clinical expertise throughout its services.
We have set ourselves the mission to improve the quality of life of all we serve, and have embarked on an ambitious Quality Improvement Programme to transform the culture of the Trust to one of continuous improvement, delivered through participation of all staff and with service users, carers and families at the heart of our efforts to improve.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Services in Luton and Bedfordshire are part of East London NHS Foundation Trust. They have undergone transformative changes over the past four years with redesigned admission and crisis care pathways, newly developed recovery-focused community mental health teams and expanded primary mental healthcare and liaison services. Strong clinical leadership and an embedded culture of continuous improvement and meaningful patient involvement are helping us to improve care outcomes and staff satisfaction and helping us in our strategy to improving population health.
This new post was created following further funding for perinatal services across the Bedfordshire County. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to have a significant influence on the development, culture and practices in the services. Consultant leadership will be an important aspect of the post and this will be supported by the directorate and Trust, with availability of internal leadership courses. There has been good recruitment to the multidisciplinary team.
There may be opportunities for successful candidates with relevant experience to take on additional leadership and management roles over time, either negotiated as a component of existing SPA time or an additional programmed activity. Both these options are subject to annual review. Evidence of previous strategic and development would be required as well as negotiation with the medical and clinical director.
