Clinical Fellow - Anaesthetics - SHARP
Exciting new training opportunity. This brand new year-long fellowship post has been crafted to provide an introduction to general anaesthesia, remote anaesthesia and pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM).
It is the perfect opportunity for those interested in such specialties to gain invaluable experience and advance their portfolios in preparation for future ventures.
The successful candidate will be immersed in a year-long programme in which their base specialty will be anaesthesia. The programme will be mapped against syllabuses from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care at the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).
Training will include regular immersive in-situ simulations, teaching sessions and practical clinical work, pertinent to both remote and prehospital anaesthesia. The candidate will also spend time as an observer within a pre-hospital organisation.
The candidates do not need any anaesthetic experience and will be trained up in basic anaesthetic competencies as required. They will be expected to cover general theatres on call duties within 3 months of commencing their job.
The formal substantive post is expected to be able to perform anaesthesia under distant supervision (following completion of basic anaesthetic competencies if needed), with main duties being the provision of anaesthesia for the surgical operating theatre suite. The post will involve daytime and out-of-hours working.
At the end of the fellowship, the candidate will be awarded a certificate of the fellowship and will have a portfolio of competencies that will be recognised by the aforementioned colleges.
It is also our aspiration that at the end of the fellowship, the candidates will have the knowledge, skills and experience to sit the Diploma of Immediate Medical Care.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE INTERVIEW PROCESS WILL INCLUDE A GROUP ACTIVITY SO APPLICANTS WILL NEED TO BE AVAILABLE TO ATTEND THE SELECTION DAY ON MONDAY 17 DECEMBER.
