Consultant Physician in Endocrinology (Gender Identity Service)
Applications are invited for a Consultant Physician in Endocrinology based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, in support of the Gender Identity Service.
The new Adult Gender Identity Service care pathway has been developed following extensive discussions with trans and gender diverse people across Wales. The model seeks to improve access to, and provision of, services available to gender diverse people registered within NHS Wales. The interim model includes the set-up of a multidisciplinary team to work with appropriate Welsh patients currently on the waiting list for the London Gender Identity Clinic.
The post holder will be expected to assess and diagnose the associated endocrine disorders that occur in patients presenting with gender dysphoria. They will also be expected to advise on the endocrine management of gender dysphoria and provide support to other clinicians and GPs caring for these patients. The post holder will be expected to participate in the clinical governance of the hormonal treatment of these patients and will have a lead role in the development and updating of clinical guidelines for the use of hormonal treatment in these patients.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
