Kettering General Hospital is an Acute General Hospital providing services to over 350,000 people with approximately 600 beds.
The Trust is going through a period of transformation and improvements with a stronger focus on providing Safe and Compassionate care to our patients. We believe that providing excellent education, training and development for our staff is essential. The Trust is an affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Leicester and the Ophthalmology department has a regular rotation of clinical and academic trainees.
The posts will meet the increasing workload in the department and are central to the ambitious expansion plans for Ophthalmology at Kettering General Hospital. This is an opportunity for two outstanding individuals to enhance our service. These present attractive job plans for consultant ophthalmologists with an interest in Medical Retina and/or Cornea. The Job plan will initially contain cataract and general ophthalmology clinics and theatres with the emphasis being on the successful individual to work with the senior management team to grow their sub-specialty practice. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide leadership with our service delivery interface with primary care and the eye casualty service. We are keen to further links with neighbouring teaching hospitals in Leicester and Cambridge and the department is supportive of proposals to expand the scope of services currently available. Support to develop the research interests of the department would also be desirable.
