We require a Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in Nephro-Urology. The post is for ten programmed activities. Experience in paediatric nephro-urology is essential. There is an on-call commitment of 1 in 15 and the applicant will be expected to contribute to evening work and safeguarding work flexibly.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the teaching of undergraduates from the Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine, postgraduates in the clinical situation and to undertake review audit and governance activity.

The successful applicant will be based at Derriford Hospital, the largest healthcare site operated by University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, based on the northerly outskirts of the city of Plymouth. Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is the largest healthcare trust in the South West of England and provides care for half a million people in Plymouth, West Devon and East Cornwall. A range of tertiary services also provide highly specialised care for two million people from nearby counties. The Trust has a busy, friendly and dynamic department of Children and Young People’s Health.

A comprehensive Care Programme for Children and Young People has been initiated to oversee the care of children and young people throughout the Trust (scheduled and unscheduled care, medical and surgical problems), ensuring safety, quality and efficiency of all services. This post represents a challenging and exciting opportunity to contribute to the Care Programme and to work in a thriving department in a beautiful part of the country.

You will work with your paediatric colleagues to further develop the local paediatric services. You will work alongside thirteen other general paediatricians and four community paediatricians to provide paediatric medical care for the local population.
