Have you completed your F1 year?

Are you looking to achieve UK competencies at F2 level?

Yeovil Hospital are excited to offer a Trust Foundation Year 2 LAS role in our Trauma and Orthopaedics department.

There has never been a more exciting time to work in the NHS and Yeovil District Hospital (YDH) is no exception. We are changing from a traditional NHS Hospital to a more commercially-focused health care provider, whilst keeping close to the important values at the heart of the NHS. An ambitious and innovative organisation, we are looking for an equally ambitious individual to fill our new Trust F2 vacancy in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

Although these posts are not recognised for training, they are afforded the same opportunities as our training posts, with access to in-house training and you will be encouraged to attend the weekly academic teaching programme. You will be fully supported by a Clinical Supervisor. A high number of our trust appointed Doctors have accessed a national training post having undertaken employment in this role with us.  This role suits candidates looking to work at FY2 within the NHS.  This post is available from now until 31st March 2019.

YDH is a busy district general Hospital which has a high performing and ambitious Orthopaedic department. The post is mainly ward based looking after Acute Trauma admissions and Elective Orthopaedic patients. There is, however, ample opportunity to gain experience in the outpatient setting as well as theatres with a minimum of 1 week in every 9 allocated specifically to theatres.

Your on call commitments are 1:9 weekdays and over weekends, with prospective cover, and is shared with General Surgery. You will be expected to admit trauma patients as well as be an active member of the trauma team for trauma calls. You will also gain experience in general surgery overnight while on call.

The Orthopaedic Department caters for both Trauma and Elective work with dedicated Orthopaedic Theatres and a Day Surgery Unit. There is also an Orthopaedic Outpatient Unit. The Trust is served by a purpose built Education Centre on site and the department holds weekly education/teaching sessions and daily trauma meetings.

Yeovil District Hospital is a high performing hospital in pleasant countryside only two hours from London and less than one hour from the nearest coast.
