Research Fellow x2
3 days left
- Full Time
A further two non-clinical research fellow posts are also being recruited to
work within the team. Focused on the technical development of MRI.
The UCL PROMIS (Ahmed et al. Lancet 2017) and PRECISION (Kasivisvanathan et al. NEJM 2018) studies have revolutionised the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer. Join the UCL team and help us take the next steps in redefining the care of prostate cancer patients, aiming to:
combine the underlying molecular changes in prostate cancer with novel MR techniques, T2 mapping, ADC Map and long b diffusion sequence.
identify the imaging (mpMRI, T2 mapping, VERDICT and 13C Hyperpolarised MR) endotype in patients with early prostate cancer that is associated with aggressive disease to avoid overtreatment of patients.
develop a methodology to estimate histology from the MRI. Using machine learning to derive precise prostate histopathological mapping of tumours from mp-MRI images.
develop a new technology: Susceptibility-Based Cancer Oxygenation Mapping (SBCOM) in prostate cancer and to investigate its clinical potential to non-invasively determine prostate cancers’ hypoxic status.
The post holder is expected to work within Centre of Medical Imaging (CMI), Division of Medicine. His/Her main responsibilities includes research on image processing and pulse sequence programming for prostate clinical trials.
The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
The candidate should hold a PhD or equivalent research experience in MRI physics, biomedical engineering, or a comparable subject with good publication track record consistent with career history. Applicants close to submission of a thesis will be considered.
He/She should have experience of and commitment to multidisciplinary working. Imaging experience is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate is expected to have proven ability to organise and prioritise workload, work and communicate effectively within a team environment and on own initiative.
