This post will be in malignant haematology. An additional sub-specialist interest in coagulation would be preferred. The retiring post holder has subspecialty interests in thrombosis, myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia but these are negotiable.

The Haematology Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is a friendly and cohesive team. This post is a replacement full-time (10PA) post, as one of seven consultants. We are supported by a specialty registrar and four clinical nurse specialists.

We provide services for Mid and West Cornwall, a population of approximately 450,000. The Department provides BCSH level 2b care with 12,500 outpatient and 5000 intravenous infusions attendances per annum. Additional capacity is supplied by a charity funded mobile systemic anti-cancer therapy unit commissioned in July 2015. An 18 bedded Haematology-Oncology ward including five air-filtered side rooms is shared with oncology. Our Macmillan Cancer Support Centre “The Cove” opened in August 2016.
