Consultant in Haematology - Haemophilia and Thrombosis
This post is to replace our current Lead in Haemophilia and Thrombosis. Sub-specialist interests in haemophilia, coagulation and thrombosis are essential. The retiring post holder also has subspecialty interests in myeloproliferative disorders, acute leukaemia and transplant but these are negotiable.
The Haematology Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is a friendly and cohesive team. This post is a replacement full-time (10PA) post, as one of seven consultants. We are supported by a specialty registrar and four clinical nurse specialists.
We provide services for Mid and West Cornwall, a population of approximately 450,000. The Department provides BCSH level 2b care with 12,500 outpatient and 5000 intravenous infusions attendances per annum. Additional capacity is supplied by a charity funded mobile systemic anti-cancer therapy unit commissioned in July 2015. An 18 bedded Haematology-Oncology ward including five air-filtered side rooms is shared with oncology. Our Macmillan Cancer Support Centre “The Cove” opened in August 2016.
