We are a rapidly developing and expanding infection management team with a focus on quality and patient safety; based in a University Hospital aligned with a medical school ranked in the top three in the UK; and located in a beautiful part of the country with award-winning beaches, unspoilt countryside and the city of Swansea.

In recognition of the increase in demand on the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases service, combined with the future landscape in infection management, we are looking to expand and assemble a team capable of developing and delivering a quality Infection management service.

We are looking for a Consultant to join our expanding team:

The salary range for this post is £75,881 to £98,515 per annum plus Commitment Awards.

This expansion of the team is part of a wider development of the infection management services in Wales, designed to improve the management of infection and prepare Wales for the future. The aim is to improve management of the ever-increasing number of complex infections, combat antimicrobial resistance, healthcare associated infections and emerging threats as well as contributing to the delivery of health care in the community. Expansion of the training programme is a key part of this development.

Successful applicants will benefit from a number of developments within the network, including the development of an Infectious Disease service; development of an infection training programme in Swansea with the first intake of Specialty Registrars in 2019 and funding for trainees to carry out the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Diploma or other course of equivalent standing; development of links with other major infection management services in the UK to facilitate closer working relationships and provide opportunity for continuous professional development; and development of a bespoke National Infection Prevention and Control Training programme.

Together we will protect the public from infection and achieve a healthier future for Wales.
