Consultant Emergency Surgeon (two posts)
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint two Consultant Emergency Surgeon’s with interest in Day Case Surgery, including laparoscopic surgery.
You will be part of the current Consultant-led Emergency Surgical which streamlines the assessment and treatment of patients with acute surgical problems and is moving forward towards the implementation of Emergency Surgical Ambulatory Care (ESAC). You will help to expand the pathway for ESAC service building on the fully functional 8 beds Surgical Admission Unit, hot clinics and dedicated radiology lists.
The delivery of General Surgical Service is under transformation in Greater Manchester with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust working in partnership with Salford Royal NHS FT and Royal Bolton NHS FT. The role will require travel across sites in Greater Manchester.
You will be expected to contribute the new EGS in the North West Sector Healthier Together partnership at completion of service restructuring for delivery of high risk emergency surgery at hub site and low risk emergency and elective general surgery at local site.
The Trust has invested in a modern integrated laparoscopic theatre and provides dedicated urgent laparoscopic lists which the appointee being expected to take up including delivery of the acute cholecystectomy service. You will be member of the Department of General Surgery and will provide 10 sessions per week and expected to undertake one day a week as Consultant of the day for Emergency Surgery. You will contribute to the delivery of the elective day case surgery service.
