We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Consultant colleagues to join our existing team of 7 Consultants in Worthing & 8 Consultants in St Richard’s in Chichester. The 10 PA contract is made up of a 3 day week with a 1 in 5 on-call commitment (weekends) which allows a 3 day weekend for 4 out of every 5 weeks. There are currently positions available on either site.

Both departments have been graded as Outstanding by the CQC and we continue to undertake improvement projects to further enhance our patient care. Both departments continue to perform well with regards the 4 hour target, with Emergency Floors created on both sites to enhance flow, decreasing the number of patients who experience exit block.

Our departments see over 135,000 patients each year and have recently undergone extensive modernisation including a new 6 bedded Resus, new single sexed CDU wards and new/improved paediatric areas with dual accredited Consultants on each site. We have just received further capital funding to further improve both Departments.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only CQC-rated “Outstanding” hospital trust on the south coast. We’re an ambitious organisation that champions our people, equipping them with new skills to continually improve services for patients.

Our hospitals are all situated along the beautiful Sussex coast, nestled against the South Downs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to London and Europe.

All newly appointed Consultants are mentored, via the “WSHFT Mentorship scheme for senior medical staff”.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining Specialist Registration at the time of interview. Applications from candidates who, for personal reasons, are unable to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for this post.
