Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with a special interest in Vitreo Retinal Surgery
The Wolverhampton & Midland Counties Eye Infirmary has a permanent replacement Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon vacancy with a specialist interest above.
The successful candidate will join a team of 14 consultants (including 2 Glaucoma, 2 VR and 1 Part time Paediatric Consultant) providing specialist services in Diabetes, Cornea, Medical Retina and Wet AMD, Ocular Motility, Oculoplastics and Uveitis.
Whilst the post will be primarily based at New Cross Hospital, the successful candidate may be required to carry out clinics and theatre sessions at Cannock Chase Hospital or Walsall Manor Hospital.
The department has two state of the art theatres based at New Cross Hospital and one at the Cannock Chase Hospital site and is supported by a fully equipped imaging department and has the latest Humphrey and Goldmann Visual Field machines.
A Walk in Emergency Service, led by Ophthalmic Nurse Specialists, is available within the Trust’s main Emergency Department at the New Cross Hospital site and is supported by an Eye Referral Unit with booked appointments for urgent cases.
The department welcomes applications from candidates who are in possession of FRCOphth or equivalent, who are on the GMC specialist register (or are eligible for registration within 6 months of the interview date with a certificate of completion of specialist training).
