Applications are invited for the above post based within the West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung Centre at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank. The hospital is the regional tertiary centre for cardiac surgery and complex electrophysiology for the West of Scotland and one of two regional PCI centres. It also houses the Scottish Advanced Heart Failure service, Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service and the Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit.

A full range of investigative, outpatient and inpatient facilities are provided on site including 4 cath labs (one biplane) and state-of the art echo, CT and MR imaging. Last year the hospital performed around 6500 cath lab and 390 device procedures. This included 2950 PCI's of which approximately 750 were PPCIs, a dedicated EP lab which provided 500 procedures per annum and a rapidly developing structural programme including TAVI and mitral interventions.

The post will be high volume coronary intervention appointments with weekly cath lab sessions. The post holder will also provide weekly out-patient clinics.

The interventional post will have full share of the existing 1 in 12 consultant on-call rota for interventional cardiology and participate in weekday daytime rota for CCU and in-patient cardiology for Greater Glasgow and Clyde. A demonstrable subspecialty interest is essential. Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the register within 6 months of the interview date.
