The CRUK Barts Centre is significantly expanding and recruiting new faculty at the Charterhouse Square campus in the heart of the City of London. This Centre is generously funded by Cancer Research UK, with matching funding from the University and the Barts Charity. It is part of a nationwide network of 15 CRUK Centres, and the newly announced major CRUK City of London Centre. It is part of a nationwide of 14 CRUK Centres, including the newly announced major CRUK City of London Centre.
This is an exciting time to join the CRUK Barts Centre. Under the Directorship of Prof Nick Lemoine, our vision is to focus on the application and translation of our research to the clinic, whilst continuing to conduct cutting edge, fundamental research to understand the mechanisms that drive tumourigenesis as well as the epidemiology, screening and prevention of cancer.
At Barts, we have over 350 research staff and 100 graduate students based in 3500m2 of open-plan laboratories, which makes it a vibrant environment for cancer research. We also have a world-leading Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, which translates our research into patient benefit through clinical trials. We have a full spectrum of training opportunities, from placements for undergraduates, to PhD Studentships and Clinical Research Fellowships.
We are looking to recruit applicants with expertise in the following areas:
- Cancer Prevention & Risk Reduction (Prof. Jack Cuzick & Dr. Ranjit Manchanda)
- Screening & Early Diagnosis (Prof. Hemant Kocher & Prof. Stephen Duffy )
- Evolution of Cancer & Computational Biology (Prof. Jude Fitzgibbon & Prof. Trevor Graham)
- Cancer Cell Metabolism (Prof. John Marshall & Prof. Tyson Sharp)
- Targeting the Tumour Microenvironment ((Prof. Kairbaan Hodivala-Dilke & Prof. Fran Balkwill)
Successful applicants will be supported by a suitable package including a competitive personal salary and start-up funds likely to include postdoctoral research assistants and PhD students.
