Consultant Transplant Surgeon
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Transplant Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Cambridge. This is a full-time replacement post, although the job plan has been reconfigured to meet current clinical service
The Cambridge Transplant Unit provides kidney, pancreas, liver, intestinal and multivisceral transplant to the adult population of the East of England and beyond.
This post will share responsibility for deceased donor kidney and pancreas transplantation with Consultant colleagues, has a commitment to living donor kidney transplantation, and a small commitment to elective day case general surgery (mainly hernia surgery). An important part of the post is to take the lead in organ retrieval for multivisceral transplant and to contribute to the
multivisceral transplant program (10-14 transplants each year). There will be a 1:5 on-call commitment for deceased donor kidney and pancreas transplantation. There is no emergency general surgery on-call.
There are close working relationships with Nephrology, Hepatology and Gastroenterology. We also have an active clinical and basic science research programme. The successful applicant with be based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital but will have a commitment to participate in Outreach Transplant Assessment clinics the unit runs across East Anglia.
Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
