Consultants in Gastroenterology (2 Posts)
This is an exciting opportunity to apply for these newly created posts to support the increased workload, expansion and development of the Gastroenterology Directorate. Appointees will join a team of eight gastroenterology consultants working alongside a diverse multi-disciplinary team providing a comprehensive and innovative gastroenterology service.
These posts support the increase in emergency and elective workload for gastroenterology and endoscopy. They are also integral to the delivery of a Needs Based Care (NBC) model to be introduced across the Medicine Division where timely allocation is predicated on a patient’s clinical need.
Applicants with a sub-specialty interest applicable to a DGH Hospital are encouraged to apply. Areas that we wish to further develop and provide increased resilience include oesophageal physiology, capsule endoscopy, nutrition, oesophageal EMR and other therapeutic endoscopy and bowel scope.
The Trust received an overall Good for services at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital following its last CQC inspection, and was recently announced the only hospital in the country to meet all key targets.
The Hospital has always been renowned for its friendly atmosphere and good working relationships. The Trust has University Hospital status with UCL and the Royal Free, which provides an opportunity to strengthen our teaching and R&D programme and brings a more academic environment to the hospital.
The department is fully committed to teaching and training both undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
The Hospital has easy access to central London and the rural Chilterns and excellent schools are found nearby. There’s also very good access to the Midlands and London by road or by rail. London Luton Airport is within fifteen minutes drive of the hospital. Residence is required within ten miles by road or up to thirty minutes travelling time of the hospital.
Applicants must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register and have MRCP. Specialist Registrars may apply if within six months of CCT. Candidates unable for personal reasons to work full-time are also invited to apply.
