We have an exciting opportunity at The Great Western Hospitals (GWH) NHS Foundation Trust for Consultant Ophthalmologist with special interest in Paediatrics. This post has become available through the retirement of the current post-holder.
The GWH was purpose built 14 years ago with a modern design of clinical space and is located next to the A419 and M4 providing quick commuting links to London, Reading, Bristol, Cheltenham and Gloucestershire. It is in the midst of beautiful countryside sitting at the foot of the Marlborough Downs and just south of the Cotswolds.
At GWH, we are focused on providing the best possible, personalized care to the people of Swindon, Wiltshire and within close proximity to our borders as well as to the wider community. We believe in treating patients as quickly as possible, helping them to get better faster by offering a range of; outpatient clinics, day case, and in-patient surgery across the whole Ophthalmology arena.
This post is full time (10PA’s) and the candidate is expected to participate in Consultant on-call rota. This post involves working with other Consultant Ophthalmologist colleagues to support the busy Paediatric services including Newborn screening for retinopathy of Prematurity and, strabismus assessment and surgery. There is also regular commitment for theatre lists. For further details please see the attached job description.
The Paediatric Ophthalmology service has an experienced team of Orthoptists, Optometrists & Nurses from whom the successful candidate will have full support. GMC Registration with a license to practice is essential. Candidates must hold CCT (or equivalent) and entry on the Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining CCT by the interview date.
