The Department is based in a modern purpose built unit at Castle Hill Hospital site treating more than 500 cancers last year.  Within this Unit all symptomatic and screening patients are assessed on a multidisciplinary basis.  Incorporated within the Unit, in addition to the outpatient facilities there are radiology facilities, a meeting room for multidisciplinary team working and office space.  All in-patient facilities are based on the Castle Hill site.

Surgery carried out in the Department ranges from routine resectional surgery to major oncoplastic procedures.  A wide range of reconstructive and oncoplastic procedures are performed by the breast surgeons, including myocutaneous flaps, therapeutic mammoplasty and transgender breast surgery. Further work such as free flap reconstruction is performed in conjunction with Plastic Surgery colleagues on a single ward.
