Applicants are invited for a permanent Consultant post in Cellular Pathology. This is a new post which has been created in order to take account of increasing workload and increasing complexity. You will join 14 other consultants in this busy department, which provides a wide range of diagnostic services in histopathology and cytopathology including support for the Mersey Regional Dermatopathology service, Mohs surgery and local Breast screening programme.
Candidates should have thorough training in a wide range of cellular pathology, preferably including non-gynaecological cytology and will be expected to have or to develop one or more areas of specialist pathology practice in line with the needs of the department and the Trust. We will be happy to discuss the requirements of applicants with respect to their subspecialty interests and their wish to develop these. All consultants currently report a wide range of specimens with limited subspecialisation.
We have established a pathology partnership with Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals NHS Trust to provide a high quality multidisciplinary pathology service to the two Trusts and community services. The advertised post will be based at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
