About the post

We are searching for a driven and committed Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine & Pre-Hospital Care to join our friendly team here at Noble’s Hospital. The post is for a limited term appointment of initially one year, with the possibility of an extension to two years by mutual agreement.

Noble’s Hospital is a modern, bright hospital and like the UK NHS, the Isle of Man Health Service is free at the point of delivery.

Within this role your time will be split between the Emergency Department and the Pre-hospital Care (70% EM; 30% PHC) and is ideally suited to someone who has completed EM training and looking for a post that will broaden their clinical experience and allow them to lead service delivery changes. The posts are for a period of 1 year, extending to two by mutual agreement.

You will be exposed to and trained in elements of pre-hospital care and will also undertake service development work in the pre-hospital, helping deliver an innovative model of care providing Emergency Medicine to patients in the community. Service development work will focus on enhancing clinical care and patient experience through the development of community-based pathways and stream-lining emergency care.

Before undertaking operational PHC shifts you would undergo a period of training followed by sign-off to work in the PHC environment. You would then be responsible for the delivery of clinical care to patients they attend, and will be supported at all times by telephone access to a Consultant with Pre-hospital Care experience.

You would be expected to participate in clinical audit and governance work relating to PHC, and will be afforded opportunities to represent the service at local management and development forums.

During racing periods you will help man a dedicated response car that will serve during racing and dependant on individual skill sets join the rota for helicopter cover.

Amongst other requirements, to be successful in this role, you will need to have full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice and completion of ST3 training in Emergency Medicine.

The Terms and Conditions of service are essentially the same as in the United Kingdom with enhancements such as automatic annual incremental pay rises.
