1 x LOCUM CONSULTANT IN PAEDIATRIC HAEMATOLOGY
Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the established, friendly team of 6 paediatric haematologists at Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) as we move to a new purpose-built haemato-oncology unit, “Waterfall House” in August 2018.
As one of the UK’s largest Paediatric Haematology departments, we see a broad case-mix of both malignant and non-malignant disease and oversee an active clinical programme in all areas of Haematology including: Stem Cell Transplantation, Haemoglobinopathy, Haemato-oncology, and Haemostasis/Thrombosis. The successful applicants will be part of dedicated medical team of 7 Consultants (including these posts), 7 Haematology Specialist Registrars/Clinical fellows and 3 ST2/3’s. There are also 7 trained/in training Advanced Nurse Practitioners in our department.
Birmingham Women and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust provides secondary and tertiary level paediatric services for the child and adolescent population of much of the city of Birmingham and is the regional referral centre for the West Midlands (population 5.2m). Our core purpose is to lead exceptional services for the health and well-being of every child and young person, and the hospital’s integrated and holistic approach was highlighted as an example of best practice in the recent report from the NHS Future Forum.
The applicant must have the relevant training in Paediatric Haematology/SCT. Applicants with experience in other areas of Paediatric Haematology are encouraged to contact us to discuss the advertised job plan.
