Applications are invited for a substantive or fixed term Consultant Medical Oncologist at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join a friendly, enthusiastic and innovative team, working with one other full time Medical Oncologist along with visiting Consultant Oncologists from neighbouring Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
The directorate is seeking a full time (10 PA) candidate to provide oncology services to Yeovil, sub-specialisation in lung, colorectal and cancer of unknown primary. Consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work part-time and job share opportunities would also be considered. The role will include provision of outpatient clinics, attendance at relevant MDTs and also provision of support to the well-established Acute Oncology Service. Yeovil District General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust participates in a wide number of research and clinical trials, and the successful candidate will have plenty opportunities to further their research interest. There will be no oncall commitment, as out of hours advice is provided by oncall consultant colleagues in Taunton. The post-holder will experience significant professional and governance peer support from The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital enjoying all the benefits of close working with our nearby regional cancer centre.
The Douglas Macmillan Oncology and Haematology Unit is CHKS accredited with sustained commitment to providing high quality, personalised care for our patients. Yeovil District Hospital NHS consistently performs well in the National Patient Experience Survey for Cancer Services. Our chemotherapy services are CHKS accredited. There are many opportunities for the successful candidate to develop services further, based on personal interest and skills.

Yeovil District Hospital is a modern hospital in pleasant countryside only two hours from London and less than one hour from both the Jurassic and North Devon coast. There are excellent facilities in a purpose built Education Centre on-site. Substantial parking on-site will be available from February 2017 with completion of a new multi-story car park and the road access improvements completed in November 2016 allow ease of access to the hospital for both patients and staff. There are also significant relocation incentives available.
Applicants must have MBBS and MRCP qualifications or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise.
Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical or Clinical Oncology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights. Interested candidates with a proposed CCT date beyond six months are still advised to discuss the post.
