Salary: £76,761 to £103,490 - pro rata, per annum

We are looking for a Consultant Advisor to support the academic content of the MRC/NIHR Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) Programme (http://www.nets.nihr.ac.uk/programmes/eme).

This senior post offers an exceptional opportunity for you (and your institution) to gain insight into and direct experience of translational research funding, and to particularly support the EME programme. You will use your experience of leading clinical research and your clinical knowledge to support our research management team, applicants, the Programme Director and Funding Committee Chair and chief investigators.

This role is intellectually challenging, and you will provide advice and input across a very broad range of disease areas, methodologies and technologies. With this in mind, you are likely to be a clinician whose experience spans a range of disease areas and who has an interest in disease and treatment mechanisms.

You will support the development of the programme’s research portfolio through contributing to discussion at the Programme Strategy Advisory Group, identifying and developing opportunities for commissioned calls and advising potential applicants. You will also support the Programme Funding Committee to iterate with applicants for example, through high quality feedback or facilitating workshops and will play an active role in post award management of studies. More broadly, you will be an ambassador for the NIHR programmes, attending or presenting at meetings and events.

For an informal discussion about the role with the present post-holder please contact Professor Duncan Young at duncan.young@soton.ac.uk

Applications, in the form of a CV together with a supporting statement of suitability, should be submitted on our website by clicking the apply button.
