We are looking for a substantive Consultant Cardiologist to join the Division of Access and Medicine at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a new Consultant Cardiologist post. We are looking for a colleague with a sub-speciality interest in heart failure to help manage patients across secondary care with complex heart failure and help with community heart failure coordination in Surrey.

Additional skills in general adult cardiology and cardiac pacing and/or imaging would be beneficial. We have an established infrastructure including ultrafilitration, complex pacing (ICD/CRT/Subcutaneous ICD implantation), interventional electrophysiology and heart failure nursing. Our strategic direction is to set up a dedicated heart failure unit (First in Surrey) to provide rapid assessment and treatment of all aspects of heart failure and establish ambulatory heart failure management and rapid access heart failure clinic.
This is an exciting time for the department and Trust as we have recently procured community services and are looking to expand our Consultant and specialist nursing workforce. It is anticipated that the post holder will contribute to inpatient care including managing patients in our 6 bedded CCU, outpatients and out of hours non-interventional on-call. We have also recently introduced a Geriatrician led in-reach liaison model to assist the Cardiology team in managing complex inpatients.

The successful candidates will have CCT or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register for Cardiology when they take up the post (applications are welcome from those within six months of their CCT date).

The Royal Surrey County Hospital is a large modern hospital, situated on a green field site on the outskirts of Guildford, in a very attractive part of the country. Guildford is an old market town situated in a strategic position in Surrey, with excellent road and rail links to London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports, to the South Coast and to the West of England. Guildford offers excellent shopping, entertainment and sports facilities. There is a wide choice of state and independent schools locally; all of which have good reputations.

Enquires about the posts are very welcome – please contact Dr James Adams, Chief of Service or Dr Zia Zuberi, clinical lead
